Ice cave tour photos from Vatnajökull

These photos are from our ice cave tours on Vatnajökull glacier, starting at Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. We only visit natural blue ice caves, never man-made ice tunnels.

The ice caves are new every winter. Last year's caves melt away in summer, so each autumn we search the glacier for new caves, and we only take guests into caves that are safe. Their size changes from year to year, so no two seasons look the same.

The ice cave season runs from October to the end of April. All tours meet at the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon parking lot (there is no pick-up), and from there it is about 35 minutes by super truck to the ice caves.
